Origin

Probably mixed in Manhattan Club circles in the 1880s, this is one of the first cocktails built around vermouth, when Italian aperitifs were still a New York novelty.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. (60 ml) - Rye Whiskey
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) - Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 dash - Aromatic Bitters
  • 1 dash - Orange Bitters
